Braille in the Community

In 2004 the Statewide Vision Resource Centre began its annual “Braille in the Community” Competition and in that year the entries were fairly basic (eg automatic teller machines and restroom facilities). With each year, there is certainly more braille in the community - and more and more interesting and diverse entries...

And below is a selection:

2007 entry - street sign in Sydney with large print and braille.   2006 entry - braille and embossed print on a plaque at Healesville Sanctuary.   2007 entry - braille and large print menu at The Cheescake Factory.   2005 entry - braille reads "Melbourne Room" on a door at the Melbourne Town Hall.   2006 entry - sign with print and braille reads " For assistance press intercom buton beside door."   2005 entry - restroom sign   2007 entry - digital ultrasonic dog pet voice recorder trainer with braille markings on the keys.
