Braille Embossers

The following list offers several options for embossing material into braille. When choosing a braille embosser, consider the following:

volume of braille - can the embosser can cope with the amount of braille you wish to produce? For example, the Mountbatten will only feed one page of paper at a time and is therefore suitable as a classroom embosser but may not be suitable for embossing large amounts of material.

noise levels - all braille embossers emit significant amounts of noise. If the embosser is to be used in or near a class, you may need to consider the purchase of an acoustic hood or cabinet.

additional costs - connecting leads, braille translation or graphics software, service agreements and consumables may add to the cost.

characteristics of the braille - some embossers will produce braille on both sides of the paper (double-sided/interpoint braille); some can be used to produce tactual graphics; some can be set for different sized paper; some can be used for different thickness of paper etc.
