Monty and UEB

Are you using Monty and wish it would translate into UEB? Well you might want this little file to add to your computer. It's an “exception table” and it will translate most literary text using the UEB code.

Here's how to use it:

  1. right click here and select Save Target As
  2. in the Save In box nominate the place you'd like to save this file for example My Documents
  3. in the Save As Type box choose All Files
  4. click Save
  5. open Monty and in the menu bar, click on Translation then Exception Tables
  6. select Table
  7. find the file you downloaded in step 1 (montyUEB.bxt) in My Documents (or your chosen place) and click Open then OK

Now you have added this exception table to your Monty translation file. Translate in the usual way, and your finished braille will be much closer to the UEB code than before. Unfortunately it will still braille the words “and”, “for”, “of”, “the”, “with” and “a” unspaced. This exceptions table does not translate non-literary text (eg maths) to UEB.
